I CHECK IN WITH...SARAH SHANAHAN
#THESENSECHECK INTERVIEW SERIES 6 minute check-ins with smart, beautiful and interesting women who know a thing or two about what it takes to be successful.
What do you do and what does a typical day involve?
I am three things rolled into one! A Professional Organiser. Founder of 'Shop with Sarah' Shopping Tours and a Product Stylist. I adore all three areas of my business and combined they keep me extremely busy, which I love.
When Iām often asked which I would give up first, I honestly find it difficult to answer as they are all so fulfilling in their own ways. I love helping people declutter and find order in their homes again, it's wonderful for my clients and myself, pure joy! I love interiors and helping people find the perfect pieces on my VIP shopping tours. A bus load of women that I get to meet and spend the whole day with is just so fun, I absolutely love it each and every time, two years on! Product Styling is a way for me to release my creative juices, I adore styling up products in my own little way on Instagram, it relaxes me and I find calmness in creating a well thought out flatlay. With all three areas, I'm a very lucky and happy girl! Then there is my home life with my husband and 4 children squeezed in as well!
My typical day is an early morning walk with our Cocker a spaniel Barney then spending time with the kids before they head off to school and Uni. Followed by catching up and putting up a post on Instagram, checking emails and getting ready for what type of hat I'm wearing that day, decluttering, researching/shopping or styling.
What sense do you use most in your role? Describe how you use it.
I use my sense of sight the most, I'm a very visual person and love taking in my surrounds and capturing images and ideas. There is inspiration everywhere.
What does your morning routine look like?
My morning routine is an early morning PT session then its coffee, breakfast, Instagram, emails and getting ready for whatever work I've got on that day. Once a week I catch up with a regular group of girlfriends for coffee and a chat about what's been going on with us all. I love this time, it's a little like therapy, but free!
Who or what inspires you?
Ordinary people doing amazing things inspires me. Reading always inspires me, I love getting lost in wonderful stories. Kind, happy people inspire me.
How do you stay on top of trends in your industry?
Magazines, Instagram, blogs - I'm always researching.
What is your no. 1 piece of advice?
Keep it simple. If it doesn't bring you or your clients joy, don't do it. Simple!
