Come behind-the-scenes of
FEMME’s Cover Shoot
We are thrilled to launch Issue 3 of The Blancspace Bulletin which is simply called FEMME. A simple title it may be but the theme has so much depth. Here we take you behind-the-scenes of our cover shoot at Blancspace Maison where our Brand Ambassador Lauren Dilena styled herself for an intimate glimpse into the fierce female she truly is. If you’ve had a chance to read the issue, we know you’ll agree the images taken by incredible mum-to-be Meaghan Coles are stunning.
The day starts with Hair and Makeup by Kelly Allison. Light streams through the windows in our studio making Kelly’s already easy job with the gorgeous Lauren, effortless.
Flick to p.17 of the bulletin for how to achieve Lauren’s luxe look. Incredible fashion from David Jones in Rundle Mall patiently waits for the shoot to begin with looks from designers including Camilla and Marc, Theory, Vince and Ginger & Smart.
It’s then lights, camera, action for our inimitable cover girl!
We throw Lauren promptly in the deep end and ask her to nail one of the trickiest shots first up. Wearing nothing but a Theory trench and leopard print heels she pouts, poses and jumps – yes jumps – all while flicking her feline mane of hair in a stream of warm air from a hairdryer. Our wind machine was broken.
As a seasoned professional she slips seamlessly into the next look – a white new season set from Camilla and Marc. With her hair tucked deliberately into her collar Lauren channels a masculine-chic meets don’t-mess-with-me vibe for this suited series of snaps which are out-of-this world glamorous.
The cover shot is the most powerful accident to happen all day and a true reflection of the revelation happening in Lauren’s life right now. She is unmasking a certain side of herself and her business, stepping boldly into her power as a stylist, business owner and, bride-to-be.
We move upstairs to the airy level 3 Blancspace office while Lauren changes into a black Ginger and Smart dress which offers a softer silhouette. Billowing sleeves invite lots of arm movement and we capture the perfect opening spread for Lauren’s FEMME interview. It immediately says “stop”, a line-in-the-sand warning that this is the new Lauren and also a reminder from all women that from now we choose a new way forward.
The shoot concludes with Lauren in a black, gold-buttoned Ginger and Smart suit that simply screams boss. It’s impossible to ignore this fierce but feminine look and we capture some of the most interesting shots of the day against the marble bench in Maison’s entrance.
Blancspace Founder and Editor of The Bulletin Erin Fraser says;
“FEMME was the obvious theme for our next issue having partnered with so many incredible women at Blancspace this year. Equally, there was no other choice for our cover girl. Lauren personifies warm professionalism, is a joy to be around and has so perfectly captured what FEMME is all about with these truly beautiful photographs and open, insightful interview (which you can read from p.11!).”
